DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Accountant 1, you will perform professional accounting work related to oversight of the Department of Human Services' (DHS) Provider Reimbursement and Operations Management Information System (PROMISe) claims processing system. Oversight functions include the post-payment review of claims processed for accuracy of payment, claims processing controls and proper accounting of expenditures, and analysis and preparation of financial reports. This position identifies payment discrepancies using Audit Command Language (ACL) software and related DHS Medical Assistance regulations and bulletins to support the findings.

We are looking for someone with strong writing skills to document audit findings and recommendations using Microsoft Word and Excel for incorporation into the cycle review report. These reviews provide a level of assurance over the accuracy of the payments made to providers, recipients, and vendors and compliance with federal and state regulations. If you have experience working with applications such as ACL, DHS' PROMISe, Client Information System (CIS), and other computer software to extract information necessary in the performance of reviews to identify payment irregularities, we encourage you to apply!

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may be expected to work from home (telework) full-time, with occasional in-office days when work dictates such requirements. You must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office at 555 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Note: You will be required to report to headquarters to pick up your equipment and attend periodic meetings at your expense. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the Commonwealth's Accounting Intern Program; or One year as a Financial Programs Trainee; or One year as a Fiscal Technician, and fifteen college credits in accounting; or Five years of Bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting; or A Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
