Responsibilities Assists the Medical Center Administration in its protection program and provides a safe and secure environment conducive to quality patient care. Enforces all established Medical Center and Safety and Security Department policies and procedures related to the protection program concerned with physical and procedural security designed to safeguard personnel, prevent unauthorized access to equipment, facilities, materials and documents and safeguards them against theft and damage. NYS Security Guard License. Minimum Experience: In security field and/or law enforcement preferred. Required Certification/Registration: Must be registered with the Security Guard Registry in Albany. Valid driver’s license without violations meeting insurance carrier criteria. Must be certified in BLS (CPR/AED). Must attend and successfully complete the Hospital Crisis Training Program within 3 months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter, (formally known as PMCS and Code Gray) Physical Requirements: Working Conditions: Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works inside and outside of facility and may be subjected to extended periods of outside work if assigned as a vehicle operator, traffic controller, or scheduled to exterior post assignments, and responding to calls for services. May come in contact with or be exposed to body fluids of deceased patients and/or infectious matter in the course of performing job duties. All Medical Center and Infection Control policies and procedures related to handling, precautions, and protective measures are to be strictly followed. Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 35 lbs. Must be able to endure physical elements of standing, walking, running, and possible physical confrontation. Lifting up to an average of 150 pounds occasionally as part of a two-person lift. Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
