Bartender Job Summary

Responsible for cleanliness and organization of all bar areas, while also preparing and serving drinks to members and guests in a courteous manner and providing excellent customer service by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Takes orders from customers or Wait staff.
  • Mixes ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
  • Serves wine and draught or bottled beer.
  • Keep bar stocked with liquor, wine, beer, mixes & disposables.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized and stocked bar area.
  • Wash and polish all bar glasses.
  • Put away and rotate all stock (beer, pop, wine, liquor, etc.).
  • Watch levels of CO2 for pop and gases for kegs. Make sure all garnishes are stocked, fresh, and presentable.
  • Check IDs of members & guests in order to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol; dispense alcohol consistent with state regulations.
  • Limit problems & liability related to members and guests excessive drinking by not over-serving alcohol or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons.
  • Serve food to customers seated at the bar.
  • Practice FIFO (first-in first-out) method of inventory control.
  • Ensure all products are stored and secured properly at all times.

  • Perform all opening and closing side work as required - refer to checklists.

     

Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to members, guests, and other employees of the organization. Ability to recognize and understand the speech of another person. Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand.[]{#Hlk85543573}[]{#Hlk85542379} Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

 

Education Requirements:

  • 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of advertising and selling products and services.
