BHS Robotics is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join our growing team in our Hanover Park, IL facility!

Job Description:

The Mechanical Technician is an integral part of our installation team, with responsibility to lead the mechanical implementation of machinery retrofits to our clients Corrugated machines. You will train under the supervision of our senior mechanical technicians, and work alongside other specialists including programmers and project managers. To succeed, you will be mechanically oriented, with strong team and interpersonal skills.

The Mechanical Technician will install mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components required for the retrofit and upgrade of corrugated machinery. Good customer service skills are also a must as travel to customer sites for installations of systems is a part of this position. This position requires 50% travel to customer locations throughout the United States. Between trips the Mechanical Technician will work in the shop to prepare hardware for future project installations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical assembly of Corrugated machinery retrofit assemblies.
  • Fabrication and machining of parts.
  • Travel to customer facilities for installation and start-up.
  • Installation of pneumatic lines and components for automated systems.
  • Installation of electrical boxes, conduit, cables, motors, drives and other communication devices.
  • Work closely with other technicians, programmers and business leaders to plan and execute projects.
  • Achieve deadlines for preparation of mechanical installation kits.
  • Achieve deadlines for installation and start-up of equipment in customer facilities.
  • Complete expense reports and field service reports in a consistent and timely manner.
  • Continuously learn new skills and develop yourself to add increasing value to your role.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ability to read mechanical designs, and electrical schematics.
  • Computer skills Word, Excel, e-mail.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite and CAD design viewer.
  • Knowledge of safety, and machine shop practices.
  • Good driving record (able to rent a car).
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time to customer locations across the USA.
  • Welding and machining of parts would be considered a strong asset.

Competencies:

  • Mechanical aptitude with knowledge and dexterity with a variety of tools.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work hard.
  • Works well independently and with a team.

Physical Requirements:

The role of the Mechanical Technician requires the ability to engage in demanding physical activities in a factory environment. This will include:

  • Standing for 10-12 hours per day while performing machine hardware installations.
  • Regular walking, bending, and standing to support projects on the shop floor or site visits.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and crawl under equipment.
  • Manual dexterity for handling small components during design or review processes.
  • Visual acuity to accurately work on detailed drawings and to inspect equipment.
