UPMC Licensed Practical Nurse LPN Hanover Specialty Care in Hanover, Pennsylvania

UPMC Hillside Specialty Center in Hanover, PA is looking to add a regular part-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to their team. The LPN will provide professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers. This is a busy office, but one that rarely has openings on the team. The staff works well with one another and truly model the team culture.

Hours: 20 hours per week. Ideally Monday & Thursday (8 hours each) and Fridays (4 hours) BUT are flexible and can discuss the schedule more with anyone interested in the position.

Responsibilities:

  • Room patients, assess patient's general condition, take vital signs and weight.

  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.

  • Assist with office quality metrics and data gathering for the quality metrics tracked by the office

  • Patient triage both in-person and via telephone

  • Obtain prescription refills and prior authorizations.

  • Point of Care testing i.e. blood glucose checks

  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.

  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

  • Follow-up on the education they received moving forward after visit to assess for understanding and effectiveness.

  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).

  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM injections.

  • Comply with all policies and procedures.

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.

  • 1-year clinical experience preferred, but not required

  • New LPN graduates welcome to apply

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
