ManTech Senior System Engineer in Hanover, Maryland

ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Hanover, MD to support DoD PKI management efforts. This position provides direct support to senior level management supporting an important mission to our Nation's National Security.

As a Senior Systems Engineer you will applies systems engineering principles to the development of capability to support the technical and policy aspects of PKI Management. The Systems Engineer analyzes user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Comparing requirements of multiple PKIs to determine interoperability risks

  • Writing PKI Certification Practice Statements and analyzing those documents for compliance with PKI X.509 Certificate Policy requirements

  • Performing PKI compliance audits and security assessments of PKI components (e.g., CAs, hardware cryptographic modules, smartcards, tokens, applets, card management systems, trusted roles)

  • Analyzes system requirements and leads design and development activities

  • Guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies

  • Provides technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology

  • Incorporates new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations

  • Develops technical documentation

  • Develops system Architecture and system design documentation

  • Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans

  • Interacts with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts

  • Ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility

  • Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. or In lieu of a degree 5 years of additional SE experience.

  • 14 years of experience as a SE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type complexity is required.

  • Understanding of X.509, and general certificate management processes

  • Experience working on PKI systems, e.g. Writing and interpreting PKI X.509 Certificate Policy requirements

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience reviewingand developing security assessments and requirements/guidance for security relevant functions in the creation,management,operations,andcertification/approval of hardware cryptographic modules (e.g.,National Security Systems (NSS) PKI token, smartcards, tokens,hardware security modules).

  • Experience performingsecurity,vulnerability,and functional assessments and testing of PKI, information assurance,and key management components and capabilities(e.g., CAs, hardwarecryptographic modules, smartcards, tokens, applets,cardmanagementsystems).

  • Experience performing technical and security reviews of documents and PKI components and create/prepare white papers or position papersdocumentingchallengesand proposed solutions.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Currently active TS/SCI with polygraph

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.

  • Repetitive Motions.
