Jacobs Network Engineer Level 2 - TS/SCI with POLY Required in Hanover, Maryland

Your Impact:

Jacobs is seeking a Network Engineer with an active TS/SCI with Poly to join their team in the Hanover, MD area. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Support of virtual learning network infrastructure sufficient to meet special requirements for each course.

  • Support of classroom network infrastructure sufficient to meet special requirements of each classroom course.

  • Troubleshooting of network issues and recommendation of network modification to optimize performance while adhering to all relevant security policies.

  • Implementing STIG guidance, hardening and maintaining network systems.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred. Eight (8) years progressively responsible network systems engineering experience is required. Certification required, at a minimum, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Familiarity with packet capture and network analysis tools is required. Knowledge of monitoring solutions required. VMWare, VSphere, and VCenter experience is strongly desired. Four (4) years of experience can be substituted for a degree for total of twelve (12) years of experience.

  • Experience with networking technologies such as routers, switches, encryption, and firewalls.

  • Experience with TCP/IP networking, networking architecture, computer and operating systems.

  • A working knowledge of both Linux platforms.

  • A working knowledge of Windows and Windows Servers.

  • Experience with Cisco hardware and operating systems.

  • Certification required, at a minimum, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

  • Experience with packet capture and network analysis tools is required.

  • Experience with monitoring solutions and datacenter operations required.

Preferred:

  • Experience with network security principles, threats, and vulnerabilities.

  • Experience with Palo Alto hardware and operating systems.

  • Experience with VMWare, VSphere, and VCenter virtualization tool.

  • Understanding of Software Defined Networking & Micro-segmentation

  • Understanding of VXLAN and logical networking concepts.

  • Experience with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, etc.).

  • Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g. Python, Perl).

  • Awareness of data center operations and network-based server systems.

  • Ability to work flex and overtime hours with some weekend hours expected.

  • Ability to solve problems quickly and completely; analytical problem-solving skills; adept at root-cause analysis and mitigation.

  • Effective communication, writing, documentation, and requirements gatherings skills are needed to be effective in this role for working with other members of the Team and with the Customer to meet the requirements of the program.

  • Proven ability to work independently while being conscious of how your work interacts with that of others.

  • Possess drive, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.
