Patten CAT Product Support Representative, Heavy in Hannibal, Missouri

Working Hours/Days

8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday - Friday, on-call afterhours and weekends

Overview

Responsibilities will include product support sales, building and maintaining customer relationships, establishing & meeting parts & service sales goals. This includes working directly with the inside product support group, sales manager & marketing personnel in finding ways to target customers to increase sales. This position requires 80% or more of travel time.

Basic Duties

  • Perform inspections on all makes, models and brands of heavy construction equipment. Equipment will be a wide variety of Caterpillar and other OEM equipment. Inspect all aspects of the machine from top to bottom, document what was found during the inspection.

  • Cold calling and setting up onsite appointments. This includes giving presentations, machine walk-arounds and deliveries to new and existing customers.

  • Customer Problem Solving.

  • Undercarriage Measurements.

  • Utilize Caterpillar Programs to increase product support sales.

  • Utilize Cat Financial in providing different financing packages.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree or minimum of 5 years construction experience preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Marketing or Business degree preferred. Construction, Agriculture and mechanical background preferred.

  • Must be able to effectively use, implement, and train customers on new technology related to vision link and job site solutions to help customers grow their business.

  • Computer literacy required. Must be familiar with programs such as Microsoft, Excel, Access and Outlook.

  • Must be a self-starter with good time management

  • Must be able to learn and be proficient with latest CAT technology for all pieces of equipment sold.

  • Excellent planning & organizational skills required

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • This position will require a good portion of time traveling to customer jobsites. Estimated 20% spent in an office environment, 80% traveling between customer locations and on job sites.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, e-mail, and verbal) are necessary.

  • Position requires walking on uneven terrain of jobsites, bending and lifting to 75lbs.

  • Occasional overnights may be required.

  • Must reside in designated territory or be willing to relocate.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position spends a good portion of time traveling to customer jobsites. Continuous walking, bending and lifting to 75lbs will be required. Will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields) when needed. The noise level in the customer’s site may be moderate to high and office environment noise level is usually moderate to low. May intermittently sit at a desk for a period to answer telephone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through email. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
