Actalent Engineering Technician in Hampton, Virginia

Job Title: Engineering Technician

Description:

  • Responsibilities & Duties  Conduct detailed ship checks to accurately assess ship system conditions.

  • Provide development and modification of AutoCAD drawing products.

  • Perform detailed technical reviews of ship information packages.

  • Review Ship Change Documents (SCDs).

  • Review shipbuilder/planning yard provided Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs).

  • Required Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience.

  • 2-3 years of experience in shipboard mechanical, electrical or structural design.

  • 2-3 years of experience working with AutoCAD Software.

  • Able to accurately obtain mechanical measurements using calipers, micrometers, height, pin, thread, and radius gauges.

  • Able to visualize and portray complex design features.

  • Experience with integration of shipboard systems is preferred, but not required.

  • Strong communication skills, and good PC skills.

  • USN Engineering experience is a plus.

  • Assist the Logistics Program Manager as directed; aid in provisioning, maintenance oversight, Military and Commercial Shipping, equipment tracking.

  • Answer questions from Program Managers, Logistics Managers or staff, Production Planners, Buyers, vendors regarding equipment and requirements.

  • Conduct or attend staff, planning, production and program meetings and relay updated relevant information to the appropriate parties.

  • Assist the Program Manager in management of System Maintenance/Reset, helium assets, unique support equipment, generators.

  • Graduate of high school, trade school, industrial school, apprenticeship course, or military school in which credits were received in algebra, plane geometry and drafting. A formal training course in CAD is preferred, but not required.
