POSITION SUMMARY

[Creates programs and documentation to control the operations, sequence and cycling of CNC machines by programming correct operational sequencing, tool changes, x-y-z movement of carriages or head cycle speed. Creates, modifies and sets up CNC programs as required.

  • Work in and with machine shops planning entire fabrication processes for precision machined parts and create code for CNC Mills.
  • Process Documentation:

``` - Produce detailed set-up instructions - Create detailed cutter tool list - Work with set-up man on 1st run jobs

``` - Develops 3 to 5-axis mill and/or lathe programs for CNC machine tools.

``` - Selects the cutting tools, tool arrangement, and cutting speeds and feeds for parts as applicable to CNC machining. Prepares shop setup sheets, tool lists and supervise the process validation portion of new program prove out. Assists in the design of jigs, tools, fixtures, and special equipment for CNC applications. - Monitors tooling costs on an ongoing basis and supports cost savings initiatives. - Participates in Continuous Improvement activities. - Communicate effectively with the process engineers, quality personnel, and production personnel. - Interfaces with Customers and Vendors regularly. - Provides programming support on production jobs.

Recommend changes to fixture design, product and tooling to reduce set-up, operational cycle times, increase quality and productivity.

Assist production and engineering personnel in resolving manufacturing problems associated with component machining.

Control program database and supporting documentation for CNC operations.
