Janicki Industries Inc. Production Tooling Engineer in Hamilton, Washington

Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a Production Tooling Engineer to join our team.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Production Tooling Engineer manages the health of Janicki's production tooling and support equipment. This includes development of maintenance and production processes, process optimization, design, and testing duties in an AS9100 Certified facility in supporting manufacturing of high tolerance, high value aerospace components.  The Production Tooling Engineer will be responsible for becoming the technical expert of the design, operation, and maintenance to optimize production tooling functionality.  The Engineer shall demonstrate self-motivation, ownership, and innovation through past experience. 

The following essential job functions are performed as a Production Tooling Engineer: 

  • Organizing and optimizing tool preparation practices on composite and metallic tooling used for the fabrication of composite laminates.
  • Develop and maintain design standards for production tooling including handling, support and NDE fixtures.
  • Develop Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) procedures for production equipment with the goal to maximize asset uptime.
  • Develop Planned Maintenance (PM) procedures as a response to unplanned failures and findings from PMI.
  • Support engineering, managerial, and technical staff to efficiently coordinate equipment modification and repairs with minimal impact to production.
  • Assists with development and coaching of production staff on usage of tooling.
  • Design/build or procure specialized components, fixtures, or parts to support production objectives.
  • Keeps current with latest equipment, technologies, and tooling methods.
  • Maintains an overview of production processes, facilities, and work with management and production personnel to develop and implement improvements for optimal results.
  • Maintain compliance with Safety, 5S, AS9100 and Nadcap Standards and Practices.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of capital and small equipment, materials, or parts. 
  • Files, drafts, retrieves, and maintains engineering drawings, records, revisions and updates, as needed.
  • Works with Operations Managers to identify and mitigate risk in the production process.
  • Aides with recording test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and provides recommendations for changes in product or test method.
  • Must work well under pressure while meeting and completing multiple deadlines.
  • Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
