Our Program
Umbrella Family and Child Centres of Hamilton offers high-quality programs to young children and their families. We operate extended-day programs before and after school for kindergarten and school age children in over 28 locations throughout the Greater Hamilton Area.
Before school programs begin at 7:00 am and typically run until 9:00am, our After School programs begin at the after school bell around 2:30pm and run until 6:00pm. Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Before and After School Educator will develop and implement a variety of activities, designed to stimulate all areas of development, and based on the observed interests of children.

Pay: Non RECE $25.48/hr (includes wage grants)
What are we Looking For?
To be considered for this role, the right candidate will have the following qualifications:
Completed or working towards one of the following- Graduate from Child & Youth Worker, OCT – Teacher, Education Assistant, Social Worker, or Recreation & Leisure programs
Minimum of 6 months of experience working directly with children OR related experience in a childcare setting
Certifications
Standard First Aid with CPR level C
Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Proof of up-to-date immunization for TB, Tetanus and MMR
Proof of COVID-19 Vaccinations Dose 1 and 2
What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for the ongoing operation of a high-quality to provide developmentally appropriate learning in a caring environment that prioritizes wellbeing, belonging, engagement and expression for children ages 6 to 12 years of age in the Before and After school program.
Responsibilities will include :
Supervise and interact directly with children providing quality care while maintaining positive daily communication and interaction with families
Organize indoor and outdoor play areas, space, equipment and materials to create a warm and welcoming environment.
Contribute to effective team development and processes to promote team cohesion and communication
Attend and participate in team meetings and professional learning
Attend to classroom safety and security, cleanliness as per relevant policy and procedure
Planning, developing, and implementing age-appropriate activities to enhance the individual and group’s cognitive, physical, social, cultural and emotional development.
