UC HEALTH LLC Neuroscience Program Coordinator in Hamilton, Ohio

This individual provides leadership and direction of the operation, organization, administration and evaluation of the TJC certified stroke center, neurology and neurosurgery programs. . He/she works collaboratively with physicians, other nursing managers, and Assistant Administrators to advise and coordinate the development and implementation of departmental policy and direction. The person in this position must be competent in providing service to patients aging from adulthood through geriatrics. He/she will be accountable for the development and implementation of methods to maintain and improve patient care and enhance staff development in the areas of stroke care, neurological and neurosurgery disease processes and procedures.EDUCATION: Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred: Master's Degree Masters of Science in Nursing LICENSE & CERTIFICATION: Current State of Ohio Nursing License. Obtain SCRN, Stroke Certified Registered Nurse certification and CNRN, Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse within 18 months. Certification to be maintained. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum Required: 3 - 5 Years equivalent experience - ED/ICU Critical CareDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Engages in population appropriate communication. Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient. Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary. Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems. Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately. Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely. Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect. Practice: Serves as expert practitioner and role model in providing quality nursing care to stroke, neurology and neurosurgery patients and their families in accordance with the American Stroke Association and The Joint Commission for the Optimal Care of the stroke patient. Responsible for overall coordination of the Neuroscience Program as well as the stroke and neurology quality dashboard. Completes daily chart audits for neuroscience patients. Provides real-time feedback to ED and in-patient units regarding audits and potential fallout of data to be abstracted after discharge. Promotes continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient settings through consultation with patients, families, medical and nursing staff. Ensures compliance with The Joint Commission criteria in collaboration with the American Stroke Association. -Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. -Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient. -Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately. Responsible for education and collaboration with Telemedicine team as well as vendor to provide ongoing training within the ED and in-patient settings where applicable.
