NY1499266 Mail Clerk needed for Colgate University in Hamilton, NY.

Pay rate is $18.91 - $21.46 per hour.

Accountable for: -Performing duties of postal clerk for campus postal station. -Operating postal meter in accordance with postal regulations. -Serving as a cashier for campus post office station, dispensing stamps and accepting mail and packages for mail. -Picking up and delivering registered, certified, insured, and campus mail on established route. -Making deliveries and pick ups to and from U.S. Post Office. -Using electronic tracking system for incoming packages and USPS accountable mail. -Creating mailing lists for bulk mailings using software. -May be required to work in document services as needed. -Following all procedures to conduct work activities in a safe manner including but not limited to wearing PPE required for specific duties and safe handling of chemicals as outlined by University policies and/or the supervisor. -Immediately reporting any unsafe conditions to the supervisor and/or Environmental Health and Safety.

Requirements: Professional Experience/ Qualifications:
-Demonstrated ability to use email and learn basic mail sorting software. -Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service of postal products to the Colgate community. -The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential. -Demonstrated ability to work collegially and effectively with a diverse group of constituents including students, faculty, staff, parents and alumni. -Ability to work as a member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Knowledge of Excel and Banner preferred.

Education : -High school diploma or equivalent required.

Certifications: -A current valid drivers license, in accordance with the Universitys Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Use Policy is required.

Physical Requirements:
-Must have the ability to lift at least 50 lbs. -Must be able to stand for long periods of time, climb stairs and work in inclement weather conditions. -Ability to work weekends and overtime, as required. -Responsible for following all procedures to conduct work activities in a safe manner including but not limited to wearing PPE required for specific duties and safe handling of chemicals as outlined by University policies and/or the supervisor. Responsible for immediately reporting any unsafe conditions to the supervisor and/or Environmental Health and Safety.
