Summary of Job Function

  • Utilizes the nursing process to effectively assess the needs of patients; identifies a plan of care; implements and evaluates the care given

  • Provides direct and indirect care to patients and leads the patient care team toward goal achievement

  • Coordinates and directs care given by other team members

  • Addresses system issues to facilitate the provision of quality and efficient care

  • Delegates appropriately to other team members

  • Excellent communication skills, leadership, ability, time management and problem-solving skills required

Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/Licensure

  • A minimum of two years recent clinical experience in critical care required

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required through the American Heart Association

  • Registered Nurse with a current State of New Jersey RN license

  • Excellent communication skills, leadership, ability, time management and problem-solving skills required

Job-Specific Requirements of Position (including, but not limited to)

  • Participates in discharge planning

  • Anticipates potential length of stay or discharge problems

  • Proactively involves the healthcare team to reduce length of stay and utilization of resources Participates in discharge planning

  • Completes admission assessment according to policy

  • Reassesses patient condition per policy

  • Interprets and utilizes clinical data in the plan of care

  • Assesses patient for the potential risk factors

  • Responds effectively in an emergency situation so that the patient s immediate needs are addressed

  • Assesses learning needs, readiness to learn and actual or potential barriers
