Job Title: Maintenance Specialist 1 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Fleet Operations Reports to: Superintendent, Fleet Operations GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE: The Maintenance Specialist 1, Fleet Operations, a field based position, is responsible for repairing and maintaining company railway maintenance equipment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Safety Focused Consistently follows safe work processes, procedures and rules Understands on track safety and can explain specifics when asked Able to locate all emergency equipment and demonstrate correct operation to superintendent Machine Operations and Technical Knowledge Operates Heavy Maintenance forklifts and equipment Can explain function of equipment controls and gauges Uses Concur for expense reporting Uses CLC to arrange lodging Ensures return parts have tags correctly completed Responsible for updating training as required using Cornerstone Arranges service for and maintains OR trucks Understands and fulfills the requirements of Safety Monitor Recognizes and understands when necessary to update job briefing Identifies and explains confined entry-space rules and procedures Understands and uses Lockout Tagout procedures Operates torch safely and can explain all settings BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES: Safety Awareness Learning on the Fly Action Oriented Values Based REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: 6+ months Experience working with Loram equipment or equivalent in a 24/7 environment. 2+ years demonstrated technical skills such as mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and machine operations. 3+ years demonstrated ability to work injury and accident free. Licenses/Certifications: Maintain Railroad Certifications, Loram Operating Rules Certification and All Loram Required E-Learning, On the Job, and 3rd Party Safety Training PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associated Degree or Technical Certification WORKING CONDITIONS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the role.
