Job Title: Commercial Driver FLSA Status: Nonexempt Department: Fleet Operations Reports to: Superintendent GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE: The Commercial Driver, a field based position, is responsible for the operations of a variety of large vehicles and equipment for the transport of Company cargo. Primary responsibilities include equipment operation, maintenance, Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance (including accurate logbooks), and scheduling of deliveries. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Operational Excellence and Maintenance Maintain a well-running equipment and trailer while in possession and after trips, including servicing as needed Ensure equipment is properly loaded, weight distributed, secured, and protected for transportation Ability to lead a comprehensive and appropriate job briefing during operations shifts, maintenance shifts, and while conducting maintenance tasks. Adheres to and enforces Loram and general railroad operating practices and safety procedures Drive and/or operate the vehicle to and from the jobsite in a safe and responsible manner Able to identify problems and correct concerns following Loram Operating rules Machine Operations and Technical Knowledge Controls the operation of the overhaul equipment without assistance in all situations Assists in scheduled preventative and unscheduled maintenance to assure consistent product quality and machine reliability Compliance Perform DOT inspections per regulations Maintain an accurate and up-to-date DOT logbook per regulations Secure required special permits as needed Need to obtain and maintain proper credentials to be qualified to operate the various machine platforms Communications Maintain communication with Manager and crews to ensure on-time deliveries BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES: Safety Awareness Values Based Leadership Personal Accountability Informing Action Oriented Takes Direction & Effectively Executes REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Diploma/Equivalent Experience: 1+ years Demonstrated technical skills such as mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and machine operations Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. 1+ years Ability to manage 24-hour operations 1+ Demonstrated ability to learn best practices, continuously improve maintenance processes and passion for teaching others. Licenses/Certifications: CDL-A license DOT Health Card PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: 1+ Years' experience truck driving, heavy equipment operations and mechanic work WORKING CONDITIONS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the role.
