Quinnipiac University Maintenance Supervisor - Mechanical Services in Hamden, Connecticut

Overview: Quinnipiac University invites applicants for Maintenance Supervisor - Mechanical Services. This position will assist with the overall management of mechanical services related to the Mount Carmel campus and ancillary properties (est. 1.4 million square feet) including the electrical and mechanical systems involving air conditioning, heating and ventilation, and associated utilities as well as the maintenance and operation of building utility systems involving domestic and chilled water, electricity, gas, storm, sanitary sewage, life safety, and building management systems. Assist with effectively managing and optimizing production of licensed electricians and HVAC personnel, as well as other employees as assigned and external contractors while ensuring a safe environment by maintaining high university standards as assigned by the Senior Superintendent of Mechanical Services. In absence of the Senior Superintendent of Mechanical Services, the Maintenance Supervisor assumes planning, leading, and directing responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the general maintenance and repairs to mechanical equipment, building control systems, life safety systems and utility distribution systems on the Mount Camel campus and ancillary properties including the timely response and resolution to work requests of students, faculty, and staff.

  • Assist with the procurement and inventory of all mechanical systems materials and equipment.

  • Responsible for providing a strong sense of community with excellent customer service and relationships (particularly Admissions and Athletics ) while maintaining the mechanical systems to promote an atmosphere which further fosters student achievement; ensuring that the community's needs and expectations for such services are met.

  • Assist with the assessment, development, communication, documentation, and implementation of daily and long-term mechanical work plan, preventative maintenance, mechanical equipment management, as well as minor renovations and capital improvements.

  • Assist with the procurement and inventory of all mechanical services materials and equipment.

  • Assist with the training of employees in methods and use of materials and equipment.

  • Work toward the reduction of harmful chemicals (i.e., refrigerant) while working in the direction of more environmentally friendly campus.

  • This position is considered essential personnel and will have off shift responsibilities based generally upon weather events and outages.

    Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

    Qualifications:

  • Good interpersonal and oral/written communications skills.

  • Proven managerial, fiscal, and organizational ability required; managerial experience in a union environment is preferred.

  • Competency with Windows based platform; a working knowledge of work request systems and project management systems.

  • Vocational or technical experience.

  • Valid driver’s license and S-1, S-2, D-1, D-2, E-1, E-2, P-1, P-2 license.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and/or a commitment to diversity and inclusion
