The Seat Integration Team (737/747/777/787) Payloads organization within Boeing Commercial Aircraft is seeking Seats Electrical Engineers (Cabin Systems) (M, F, D) (Mid-Level and Senior) to join our Seat Integration Team (SIT) in Hamburg, Germany .

The Payloads Organization is responsible for everything you see when you fly; and much of which you don’t. The interiors of the airplane, along with the cargo compartments, exterior markings, associated systems, and cabin safety all make up Payloads. We are how our airline customers fulfill their mission and represent their brand and shape how the public experiences flight. Our organization is a fast-paced, dynamic environment, which pulls from many engineering backgrounds.

Seats Electrical Engineers (Cabin Systems) are responsible for managing the integration of multiple development passenger seat programs into Boeing aircraft by overseeing supplier seat designs to ensure all customer, regulatory, and Boeing requirements are met. To be successful requires extensive coordination with Customer Engineering, Payload Configuration, Supplier Management, Seat Suppliers, Airline Customers, numerous interfacing program commodity teams, regulatory administration, FAA, and factory personnel. In addition, a strong engineering foundation is needed to review and approve supplier technical data, understand certification test requirements, prepare engineering releases to support seat and systems installations, and author and release compliance summary reports. Must be able to represent the company professionally in demanding environments. Airline Customers and Seat Suppliers are located around the globe, requiring flexibility to support meetings at any time, as well as the need for travel, domestically and internationally.

Payloads is seeking candidates with experience in any of the following areas:

  • Engineering support and project leadership within a production system.

  • Direct engagement working with/for aerospace suppliers or airlines.

  • Validating/demonstrating compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Working with regulators.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Works with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements for passenger seats.

  • Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.

  • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.

  • Supervises supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.

  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.

  • Designs airplane physical and electrical system interfaces, encompassing airplane and seat wiring.

This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering.

  • 5 years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience.

  • Experience leading a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering degree.

  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.

  • Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria, and release processes.

  • 5 years of experience in program or project management, leading project and/or program proposals of varying complexity (including development and execution of schedule milestones, financial assessments, resource assessments, risk and/or issues management, etc.).

  • 9 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Good problem-solving skills and critical thinking.

  • Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences.

  • Demonstrated interest in continuous learning and development.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with system design and integration during a passenger seat development program.

  • Experience with DO-160 and DO-178.

Typical Education/Experience:

Mid-level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).

Senior (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
