Rental One is looking for afull-time Field Service Mechanic for the San Marcos areato safely diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems on a variety of gas, propane, and diesel-powered heavy equipment of the rental fleet and provide exceptional customer service in representing the company both on the road and at worksite.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Inspect equipment to determine service and repair needs
  • Review all work orders with Service Manager
  • Troubleshoot and repair fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems with limited or no supervision, primarily at the customer's site
  • Perform complete repair and overhaul functions, including routine maintenance services for on-the-road vehicles, small tools (electric and gas), and light/heavy equipment ranging from portable generators to 40,000 lb. track excavators
  • Test and operate equipment post-repair to verify proper functioning to ensure equipment does not return Problem Not Fixed
  • Execute daily equipment maintenance according to safety inspection checklists and manufacturers' documents
  • Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear/repair as necessary
  • Document service records
  • Complete preventative maintenance, oil changes, and lubricate equipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and attend all store/department safety meetings
  • Perform other duties as requested

Working Conditions:

  • Warehouse/shop conditions which may be non-heated/cooled and outdoor Job Sites.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs,.bend, stoop, stand, reach, push, pull, twist, and maneuver with a full range of motionfor extended periods of time.

Qualifications

  • Must provide own tools
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of gas, propane, and diesel-powered engines
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of electrical, propane, and hydraulic systems
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of track equipment, aerial equipment, and heavy trucks
  • Must be able to diagnose and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems
  • Must maintain an acceptable, safe driving record and valid driver's license
  • Basic welding skills
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary
