Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Training Application & Instructional Design Specialist located at Beatrice Power Station in Beatrice, NE, Columbus General Office in Columbus, NE, Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownsville, NE, Kearney Operations Center in Kearney, NE, Lincoln Area Headquarters in Lincoln, NE, Norfolk Operations Center in Norfolk, NE, North Platte Office in North Platte, NE, Plattsmouth Office in Plattsmouth, NE , Sheldon Station in Hallam, NE, York Operations Center in York, NE. This position will report to the Training Governance Manager.

Position Summary

The incumbent provides functional support for all training applications including authoring software and the Learning Management System(s) (LMS) for non-nuclear training. The incumbent defines system requirements, monitors/analyzes system trends, and performs testing for SAP and other training-related platforms and software. Ensures functional integration between the LMS and ancillary training software and platforms.

Duties include establishing effective work practices, policies, and procedures to align and document training in the LMS. Individual serves as process and program liaison for software applications used for non-nuclear training. Partner with training personnel to drive consistency for preparation and retention of non-nuclear training records.

The incumbent will maintain design/style guidelines for non-nuclear web-based training. Individual will work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to design, develop, and revise training in authoring programs including the Articulate Suite. Duties will include developing and enacting processes for maintaining and updating WBTs.

Education, Training and Experience

Master’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related field and two (2) years’ experience as described below

OR

Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related field and five (5) years’ experience as described below

OR

Associates degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related field and eight (8) years’ experience

(OR)

High school diploma or GED and ten (10) years’ experience

Experience:

A role with responsibility for implementing and supporting training including functional management of an LMS system and authoring in web-based training.

Additional Skills:

Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Experience in training program administration, measurement tools, and record management (SAP preferred). Knowledge of Training Authoring software such as Articulate 360, Questionmark are preferred. Experience with video/audio/image editing software such as the Adobe Suite or Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) are highly desirable.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Serve as owner/expert/liaison for all non-nuclear training relative to training software applications and records processing.

Evaluate training records to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Provide end user support for NPPD’s LMS system, including questions, troubleshooting, user questions, consulting, and training services.

Develop and Implement non-nuclear training qualifications.

Conduct Training Needs Analyses (TNA) through formal and informal processes.

Create and maintain design/style guidelines for non-nuclear web-based training.

Test WBTs for functionality and improve existing WBTs by aligning to instructional design principles.

Collaborate with SMEs to design and develop engaging and effective learning experiences including WBTs and instructor-led courses.

Develop and enact processes for maintaining and updating web-based training.

Develop and implement training programs for Training staff relative to training software changes.

Work with the other members of the LMS Applications team to provide functional knowledge to ensure the overall configuration integrity of the system and effective support of related business processes.

Participate on user groups, special task groups, integration, or improvement project teams to provide needed LMS functional application expertise.

Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of test/assessments, and retraining requirements.

Administer/withdrawal WBT authoring licenses.

Work with Corporate Communications to create assets and resources such as audio/video for instructor-led & Web-based training.

Maintain knowledge of latest trends in training and organizational development.

Act as liaison between technical & functional groups regarding LMS.

Create and maintain guidelines for assessments and test questions and ensure adherence.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

Pay Grade - 12 Monthly

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $6,105.00 - $7,632.00

Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.

Telecommuting: Telecommuting is an option for this position. Please note this arrangement will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and is contingent on meeting performance expectations.
