Job Summary

SUMMARY STATEMENT The Youth Programs Camp Counselor supports all operations and logistical functions for the College for Kids program and works closely with the Program Assistant, Team Lead, and Program Manager. The College for Kids program runs from June 24 to August 9, 2024. This is a temporary, part-time position, available for up to 29 hours per week. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS A. The Youth Programs Camp Counselor reports directly to the Personal Enrichment and Youth Programs Manager. B. The Youth Programs Camp Counselor works most closely with the Program Assistant, Team Lead, and administrative office associate. ESSENTIAL DUTIES A. List major duties of the position ranging from the most to least important. 1. Plans and engages campers of all ages in developmentally appropriate activities during camp’s extended care hours. 2. Communicate with the parents through daily drop-off or pick-up. 3. Maintain a safe environment for participants. 4. Organizes and leads activities during morning and afternoon recess for younger campers. 5. Provides assistance in the classroom as needed and supervises campers during instructors’ regularly scheduled breaks. 6. Escorts campers around campus for bathroom breaks, brain breaks, visits to the camp nurse, and other situations during which campers are outside their classrooms. 7. Ensures medications are delivered to the correct camper’s classroom every morning and returned to a secure location every afternoon. 8. Administers routine medications, pending completion of required certification training. 9. Receives and sorts materials deliveries. Organizes materials, manages inventory, and ensures delivery of supplies to classrooms across campus. 10. Coordinates with food services and CFK staff to track and manage online lunch orders. 11. Helps coordinate and respond to instructors’ last-minute requests for materials and technology. 12. Assists with setting up and tearing down classrooms, ensuring the space complies with current health and safety regulations. 13. Assists in general cleaning and sanitization of classrooms and shared equipment. 14. Provides basic office assistance, such as photocopying, word processing, running errands, and other duties as assigned. Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree preferred. Experience working with youth in grades 2-12 strongly preferred. SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Must be available to work during the weeks of camp, June 20 to August 11, 2023. • First Aid and CPR certification preferred. • Ability to lift 30 lbs and quickly and efficiently deliver materials around campus with a wagon or hand cart. • Proven success as a flexible, positive team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task, project-oriented environment. • Ability to take the initiative with project and support assignments. • Exceptional organizational skills. • Ability to establish and maintain excellent professional and effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and customers. • Ability to maintain confidentiality. • Ability to listen actively and demonstrate understanding of written instructions. • Ability to shift quickly between several tasks without loss of continuity. • Excellent customer service skills and the ability and desire to assist instructors and supervisors in achieving success. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS • Driver’s license required. • Background check required.
