job summary:

Industry leading, very reputable and well established manufacturing company is looking for a promotable Quarry Supervisor in the Hagerstown, MD area. This is not a remote or hybrid position so all candidates must be willing to work 100% of the time in a manufacturing plant.

Candidates must have experience managing hourly union employees along with solid knowledge of equipment used in a quarry.

This role comes with a very competitive compensation plan commensurate with experience with a base salary ranging from $80k to $95k plus a 15% annual target bonus and relocation assistance.

All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise hourly quarry personnel and mobile shop mechanics to coordinate activities related to the operation.

  • Ensure that the required inspections are appropriately conducted, and the proper documentation is maintained. These include pre-shift inspections on mobile equipment, workplace examinations, blast inspections, daily production logs, and instruction updates.

  • Conducts training as needed for miners.

  • Conduct and document safety meetings with hourly personnel as required by MSHA, state, and company policies.

  • Supervises all daily mining activities.

  • Monitor quarry operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Inspect and report any mobile and stationery equipment maintenance requirements and coordinate repairs with the Mobile and plant Maintenance personnel. Utilize SAP and Kronos for work order and timekeeping.

  • Ensure that routine housekeeping and daily inspection is performed on mobile equipment, deep mine pumps and sumps, production line equipment and roadways.

  • Conduct and properly document job-specific cross-training as needed to reach an optimal level of competency and proficiency throughout the workforce.

  • Works closely with the Quarry Manager to ensure proper mining sequence and that benches are mined online and graded according to plans.

  • Communicates closely with the Quarry Manager to address any problems or concerns before they affect the safety and efficiency of the operation.

  • Actively participates on safety committees to which he is assigned.

  • Coordinates mine operating and maintenance activities with Plant Maintenance.

  • Supports and participates in the Continuous Improvement, quarry Safety and housekeeping activities.

Educational Requirements:

Engineering Degree - Mining or geological engineering Preferred or proven equivalent quarry experience.

Technical knowledge and certifications:

Supervision or Management experience in a union environment
