What you’ll do:

The Primary function of this role is to work on New Product Introduction (NPI) and Pursuits programs to design, develop and validate Battery Vent Valves for Electric Vehicles. Collaborate with cross functional teams from sales, manufacturing, SCM, test lab & program management to deliver on project milestones. Deliver quality through implementing robust design processes, guidelines and standards, all while ensuring targeted OTD and FTY. This role would be identical and an extension to the design & development of breather valves / air filteration products with some added functionalities.

The key responsbilities of this role include

  1. To design and engineer battery vent valves that can enable controlled emergency venting during battery thermal runaway, passive venting (breathing) & provide necessary Ingress protection

  2. Conduct design feasibility studies, perform preliminary engineering calculations, coordinate with simulation teams (FEA, CFD, vibration simulations) to verify and improve design through a detailed analysis plan

  3. Create & release engineering drawings with relevant GD&T & stack up calculations

  4. Coordinate with cross functional teams like manufacturing, test lab, simulation etc. to mature the design and progress technical maturity

  5. Conduct design reviews, present technical studies and findings to Portfolio lead, technical lead, design review board & chief engineer of product line

  6. Conduct & drive manufacturing review (MFR) & and supplier feasibility review (DSFR) for prototype & production worthy prints. Facilitate and review manufacturing process capability & support PPAP submission

  7. Solve technical problems encountered during test while working on new Pursuit Projects, NPI & VAVE projects with project team members working across the Globe

Qualifications:

  • B.E / B.Tech or M.E / M.Tech in Mechanical/Production

  • 1-2 yrs with M.E/M.Tech and 3-4 yrs with B.E/B.Tech ,in R&D &/or Mfg Processes

Skills:

  • Proficient in fluid & structural mechanics

  • Hands on experience in seal design especially lip seals

  • Basic knowledge in plastic product design & DFSS

  • Well versed in Engg drawings, CAD, GD&T knowledge

  • Basic manufacturing understanding especially plastics, stampings & machining

  • Experience in Hydrophobic membranes such as PTFE is an added advantage

  • Good communication

  • Collaborative working style

  • Learning agility
