Repair and maintain gasoline engines used to power equipment such as portable pressure washers, cleaning equipment, lawn mowers, HVAC equipment, generators, and compressors. Record repairs made, time spent, and parts used. Obtain problem descriptions from customers and prepare cost estimates for repairs. Repair or replace defective parts such as magnetos, water pumps, gears, pistons, and carburetors, using hand tools. Knowledge sets include Diagnosis, Repair, Repairs, Technician, Troubleshoot, Troubleshooting. Requisitions equipment and materials needed for shop and field operation. Examines defective machinery to determine cause of malfunction and reports need for machine repairs. Sets up and operates machines to make test runs. Inspects work in progress and finished products to ensure accuracy and quality. Able to work in one-man situations or report to a lead man on larger projects. Set up and start the job as required within their field of expertise. Able to estimate on a limited basis if the repair is deemed to be caused by customer or customer employee. Recommend other services or products to the customer as needed. Calls back for parts on an as needed basis. No more than 5 percent unpaid non-warranty service calls. Paperwork completed within 24 hrs and is complete, including work orders, invoice and purchase orders, along with payments if necessary. Maintains time and repair records. Other duties may be assigned.
