The Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy services to individuals and their families in a team relationship with other health care providers in a setting that is designated by the department.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of an Occupational Therapist (Inpatient) at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Performs all functions associated with the evaluation patients for all age group within the department's responsibility.

  • Completes all documentation required within the regarded timeline according to department.

  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.) This process includes communicating with the patient, parent and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).

  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited occupational therapy school.

  • For cost center 6367 only: One to two years of clinical experience, within the past five years in an inpatient facility or home health agency.

  • For cost center 6368 only: One to two years of pediatric occupational therapy experience or strong pediatric affiliation.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Occupational Therapist License.

Working Conditions:

  • Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 100 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
