The Group Research team at Høvik is now searching for summer students for summer 2024.

AI has had a transformative effect on modern society and business and is ubiquitous to all walks of life from consumer to industrial applications. With the tremendous potential of AI enabled applications and the far-reaching impact comes the need to ensure that these systems are safe to use. Risk assessment and assurance as well as explainability is essential and will be demanded by regulation in the near future. Deep fakes and falsification as well as black box models and biases make ensuring trust important and non-trivial.

DNV is a part of this effort with our purpose of safeguarding life, property and the environment and it is our ambition to bring trust and assurance to AI applications. We are putting together an interdisciplinary team of summer students to build an overarching platform for assurance of AI and demonstrate it for concrete use cases. Relevant topics include ML Ops, explainable AI, traceability of training data, safety critical testing, uncertainty quantification with the goal of developing the rules and assurance procedures necessary for trustworthy AI applications in a commercial setting.

Summer students have been a part of our team for several summers, working with machine learning, data engineering, edge computing and sensors.

Previous summer students have experienced the summer jobs in DNV to be an excellent opportunity to get to know DNV as a workplace while obtaining valuable and real work experience. At Høvik you can start the day with morning bath and end your work-day with a kayak on the fjord.

As a part of our team, you can expect to work on challenges which are both scientifically and commercially interesting. Programming skills and experience with ML algorithms are preferred. Also, bonus points if you have some experience with sensors and edge computing from studies, previous summer jobs or extracurricular activities. It will also be regarded positive if you are interested in writing your project- and/or master’s thesis on a related subject. Researchers from DNV can offer co-supervision and support to such work and provide data and equipment as necessary.
