Director of Procurement

A client of ours is looking for a Director of Procurement for a contract role. The Director of Procurement will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies that optimize our supply chain and support our business objectives. This role requires a strong background in procurement, contract review, legal compliance, accounts payable, and vendor management. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities of Director of Procurement

  • Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and cost-effective procurement processes.

  • Oversee the contract review process to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage and negotiate contracts with vendors, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.

  • Collaborate with the legal department to ensure all procurement activities comply with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Oversee the accounts payable process to ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers.

  • Monitor and evaluate vendor performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and performance standards.

  • Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks.

  • Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

  • Prepare and manage the procurement budget, ensuring alignment with company financial goals.

  • Track and report key procurement metrics to senior management.

    Requirements

Skills/Qualifications of Director of Procurement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CPSM, C.P.M.) is a plus.

  • Four to six years of related experience in procurement, preferably in a higher education setting.

  • Proven experience in contract review and negotiation, legal aspects of procurement, accounts payable, and vendor management.

  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices and supply chain management.

  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.

  • Strong understanding of procurement laws, regulations, and best practices.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
