MS. Air National Guard CRTC Firefighter, Crash/Rescue in Gulfport, Mississippi

SPECIAL CONDITION : MS State Law requires that male applicants between the ages of eighteen (18) and twenty-six (26) submit satisfactory documentation of their compliance with the draft registration requirements of the Military Selective Service Act with application. In addition, males between the ages of eighteen (18) and twenty-six (26) who are currently employed shall not be promoted to higher positions until they submit documentation of compliance with the requirements of the Federal Selective Service Act. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: SUBSEQUENT TO JOB OFFER AND PRIOR TO JOB PLACEMENT, INDIVIDUAL WILL COMPLY WITH A PREPLACEMENT BASELINE PHYSICAL EXAMINATION AS IDENTIFIED IN NFPA 1582, 1581 and DOD PHYSICAL FITNESS REQUIREMENTS . 1. High school graduate or GED equivalent. 2. Possess a valid state driver's license and if authorized to operate a government vehicle, have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's ID card. PROOF OF DRIVER'S LICENSE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION. 3. Must obtain the following DOD Certifications accredited by International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or National Professional Qualifications Board (NPQB)to hire and receive the 14.58hr pay rate: PROOF OF CERTIFICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION. (a) Firefighter I & II (b) Hazardous Materials Awareness/Operations The following "Certifications must be obtained within 18 months of placement into the position." "Failure to obtain the required certifications will be sufficient cause for removal from employment." (DAFI 32-2001, ANGSUP I) (c) Airport Firefighter (d) Driver Operator Pumper/ARFF/Water Tender. (e) Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Responder (NREMR). (f) Telecommunicator I & II 4. Additional requirements will be found in DODI 6055.06 and DAFI 32-2001, ANGI 32-2001 and local Department Management Plans. 5. Requires physical dexterity in climbing and maneuvering around high and tight places. 6. Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret Security Clearance. 7. Initial Physical: Fire fighters will comply with a pre-employment baseline physical examination identified in NFPA 1582, "Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments". Annual Physical/Medical Evaluation: Fire fighters shall be medically evaluated periodically as specified in NFPA 1582. Fire fighters will be subject to a drug testing program. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Not all inclusive, will be fully explained during interview) 1. Performs as assigned in one or all duties at the scene of a fire/crash such as hose hand lineman directing water/foam, or chemical as directed by the Senior Firefighter. 2. Provides/receives daily instructions in classroom and in practical demonstrations in structural and crash firefighting techniques; methods of first aid and rescue procedures. 3. Performs normal housekeeping duties and user maintenance of the Fire Station and other assigned facilities. 4. Shall assist/perform in facility inspections, pre-fire planning, fire extinguisher maintenance and placement. 5. Subject to travel, as required, in the accomplishment of assigned duties and organizational mission. 6. As directed by the senior firefighter, drives assigned vehicles to the scene of an emergency and operates equipment assigned. Shall assist and/or perform vehicle inspection and operator maintenance. 7. Must be able to use sound judgement and follow instructions while wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus while working in an area of high excitement. 8. Incumbent will accomplish duties as they relate to the Fire Service and as directed by the senior firefighter. 9. Applicants will be trained in areas and functions of BAK-14 Aircraft Arresting System (ANG/CRTC-Gulfport Only).
