YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS INVOLVED?

  • Undertaking inspections of Highway and Rail structures as inspector and/or inspection lead;

  • Planning inspection work;

  • Preparation of pre-inspection risk assessment;

  • Preparation and/or review of Inspection Reports;

  • Ensuring the safety for yourself and your colleagues at all times;

  • Resource coordination and project progress control.

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE

  • A basic understanding of engineering principals, as junior positions will also being considered;

  • Dedication to safe working practices and recording of safety observations;

  • A willingness to undertake inspections outside of normal working hours (ie. evenings/nights and/or weekends);

  • Proven competency in the use of measuring and surveying equipment (eg. level, total station);

  • Good communication and report writing skills and interpersonal skills are essential, plus a willingness to adapt to new challenges and to actively participate in the development of the bridges team.

Desirable:

  • Relevant inspection and access qualifications, eg. STE04, STE05, PASMA, rail trolley controller, PTS certification and/or National Highways passport, BICS (Bridge Inspection Certification Scheme) certified inspector;

  • Practical knowledge and experience of bridge inspection and reporting for railway and highway clients.

YOUR TEAM

The Bridges team is busy with highway and rail bridge engineering work for a variety of clients, including local authorities, contractors, private developers and public-sector clients.

We are seeking an Inspector to join our Bridges Team in South East UK.

You will be pivotal in planning and delivering a full programme of inspections for a variety of clients and you will use your knowledge and skills to deliver the right quality of work to time and budget. Depending on your level of experience, you will use those attributes to mentor and support more-junior team members of the team or be mentored by more experienced member of our team to become a competent inspector.

The position is a combination of office and site-based work, with travel (driving, public transport) and occasional outside accommodation involved.
