Intel Robotics research Student Worker / Research Scientist - Adaptive Control for Robotics in Guadalajara, Mexico

Job Description

We work with other internal teams and researchers at universities around the world to develop novel machine-learning algorithms and technologies that make Human-Machine collaboration possible.

We research, experiment, and prototype ideas that have an impact on Intel and its customers across a wide range of applications.

During your internship, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating new artificial intelligence algorithms for Robotics inspired in the human-AI interaction, like efficient multimodal architectures and pipelines for vision/language/control systems. This requires some familiarity with techniques in machine learning, deep learning, robot control and/or natural language processing, and relevant software frameworks, also explore methods to improve retrieval-based pipelines from complex metadata in documents.

You will use your knowledge of scientific principles to suggest and research promising approaches, also you will work in a team-oriented collaborative environment to meet your goals. You are expected to utilize state-of-the-art principles and theories. Form strong relationships with university researchers and key collaborators, and the explorations around RAG pipelines for reducing hallucinations and optimization (quantization, distillation, and other memory efficient methods) of the LLMs to run them on the XPU platform to contribute to Intel technologies and/or the scientific literature.

You will be expected to focus on a specific project of mutual interest to you and your mentor(s), focusing on a key research question that will move your work forward.

The ideal candidate should exhibit the following behavioral trait:

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications,

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position:

  • Student enrolled in a Master, PhD or post-program in artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, statistics, electrical engineering, or a relevant engineering/science discipline related.

  • 1+ years of research experience in machine learning, deep learning, or natural language processing.

  • 1+ years of experience in:

  • Development of algorithms in high-level languages such as Python, C++, Java, etc.

  • Prior research in Large Language Models and understanding of optimization techniques.

  • Intermediate to advanced English level.

  • Must have unrestricted - permanent right to work in Mexico.

Preferred Qualifications:

Publications in top-tier conferences and journals in machine learning related fields (NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI, ACL, etc.)

  • 1+ years of experience in robotics research.

  • 1+ years of experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, MXNet, etc.).

  • Prior research in Vision-Language Systems and RAG pipelines.

Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
