POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Chief Diversity Officer for Community Training, Education, and Belonging will primarily implement intercultural programming and provide educational training to the campus community. The focus will be on improving the lived experiences of community members with underrepresented and marginalized identities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Training and Program Coordination: Design, plan, and coordinate training for retreats, educational programs, and initiatives to develop diversity awareness and intergroup communication and engagement.

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Workshops: Conduct comprehensive DEI trainings/workshops to enhance understanding and commitment to DEI principles, strengthening the campus community’s ability to become inclusive leaders.

  • Community Engagement: Create opportunities for students, staff, faculty, and administrators to engage across differences. Serve on relevant college committees, including the Committee on Diversity and Inclusion.

  • Social Media Development: Develop and manage ODEI social media pages to promote DEI initiatives and activities.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent

  • Five years or more work experience in a related field

  • Champion of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  • Strong ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to create engaging and creative training materials that will enhance the growth in cultural competency across campus

  • Demonstrated ability to assess campus climate and building responsive curriculum related to cultural competency, institutional awareness, and cultural nimbleness

  • Exhibits strength in leadership skills that empower others

  • Ability to communicate effectively across a multitude of styles and avenues

  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics

  • Demonstrative ability to develop sustainable structures

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Qualified Intercultural Development Inventory Administrator

  • Ability to utilize Intercultural Development Inventory to provide a baseline assessment of the institution

  • Proven background and skill to support individual and organizational advancement along the Intercultural Development Continuum
