Asphalt Materials, Inc Estimator in Griffith, Indiana

Milestone Contractors is a fully integrated highway, heavy construction, asphalt paving, concrete paving, and site-development general contractor providing construction services throughout the state of Indiana and beyond. We are currently hiring for an Estimator to join our team.

Position Summary:

Assists in the generation of estimates and new business opportunities in assigned markets

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with quotes generation
    • Prepares and submits shop/structural drawings
    • Computes various cost factors
    • Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements
    • Ensures accuracy of all information
    • Solicits suppliers and subcontractors
  • Develops beneficial business relationships
    • Develops good working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
    • Develops a network and contacts within the community
  • Performs day-to-day estimating tasks
    • Generates quantity take-off
    • Prepares purchase orders and rough draft subcontractor agreements
    • Prepares sub-supplier lists
  • Communicates with internal/external customers.
    • Answers inquiries via phone, email or in-person.
    • Provides highest levels of customer service.
    • Makes presentations to large and small groups
    • Translates technical information into easily understood language
  • Promotes and maintains safe work environment.
    • Exhibits safe work behaviors
    • Wears all prescribed PPE

Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position, normally 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, during normal business hours. Weekend and shift work may be required on specific projects.

TravelRegular travel to job sites, customer sites, and corporate offices around the state is required; mostly day trips, but some overnight travel.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Technology, Construction Management or related field
  • 1-3 years previous experience in asphalt paving/bridge construction industry

Preferred Education and Experience

  • PE license

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must adhere to drug free workplace requirements, including random testing requirements
  • If required to drive a company vehicle, must h ve or be able to obtain valid, state driver's license and meet company driver requirements
