Merrick & Company Electrical Engineer I in Greenwood Village, Colorado

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a full time Electrical Engineer for our Greenwood Village, CO or Chamblee, GA office, supporting our Life Science (LS) business unit. This business unit specializes in the design of facilities and related power systems for Government and private clients. Work assignments include electrical systems design for buildings such as biocontainment labs, research labs, and other scientific research facilities. An agreed upon hybrid schedule, working from both home and office, is available to employees in good standing. WHAT YOU'LL DO

Work involves supporting senior electrical engineers and fellow team members in the design of critical facility electrical systems. Project work involves a variety of activities including power analysis/studies, conceptual and detailed design of low voltage (1000V and lower) power distribution, medium voltage (1000V to 45kV) power distribution, power generation systems (backup power and prime power), grounding and lightning protection systems, lighting systems, and motor control systems, facility voice/data communication cabling systems, fire alarm, security access control and security systems. Work also includes developing specifications, field investigations and construction administration. The position will require designing to electrical regulatory codes, and experience with reading and researching electrical code is desired. This position requires excellent communication skills and must be able to work in a team of supporting electrical engineers and designers to execute design projects. Constant communication with senior engineers, peers, team members of other engineering disciplines, architects, and contractors will be expected. The applicant should be capable of independent design and engineering judgment with some collaboration and instruction from senior engineers. The position will require occasional travel to job sites. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Zero (0) to four (4) years of experience in Electrical Engineering design, preferably with entities such as DHS, USDA, CDC, NIH, etc. Electrical Engineering Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited program. Experience using electrical calculation tools is highly desired, including lighting and power software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, EasyPower, ETAP or SKM Power Tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel and Word. Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EIT (Engineer in Training) or the ability to take and pass the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) Exam. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit based drawing generation experience. Working knowledge of NFPA, IBC, ICC, NEC, and IEEE Regulatory Codes. Facilities electrical design experience. Local candidates are preferred. PERKS
