BJ Farms AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT OPERATORS in Greenwich, New York

4 Fulltime H-2A Seasonal Jobs Available 07/23/2024 - 10/25/2024.

Operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmers fields and/or transport workers to the grocery store, or bank on an as-needed basis. Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities. Only 1 worker is required to have a valid drivers license. To manually plant, cultivate & harvest fruits & vegetables including but not limited to sweetcorn, cucumbers, tomatoes, beans, eggplant, peppers, melons, pumpkins & squash. Use hand tools, such as trowels. shovels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, knives & post drivers. Duties include field preparations by tilling soil, mulching, plastic application & removal, transplanting, weeding, thinning, and pruning of crops. Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, & self-propelled machinery. Set up & operate irrigation equipment and participate with laying irrigation pipes and other activities. Repair & maintain, including cleaning & sanitizing, of farm vehicles, farm equipment, and mechanical equipment used in harvesting, sorting, packing, washing, & storage of produce. Construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings. Rake lawns, shovel, sweep, and wash buildings. Harvest fruit and vegetables by hand and machine. All fruit & vegetables to be handled with care to avoid bruising. Assist with farm maintenance. Be able to work in variable adverse weather conditions. Work requires standing, sitting, kneeling and lifting up to 75 lbs on a consistent basis throughout the work day. Due to health & safety concerns on our farm, workers must understand basic instructions in English. Workers referred as a result of this order must have a minimum of three months verifiable experience in performing the tasks described in this order. While working in the field, all cell phone usage is limited to emergency use only.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three months verifiable experience in performing the tasks described in this order.
  • Lifting up to 75 lbs on a consistent basis throughout the work day.
  • Extensive sitting, extensive pushing/pulling, and extensive walking.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Repetitive movements and frequent stooping/bending.
