WestRock Company Continuous Improvement Manager in Greenville, Texas

The Opportunity

The Performance Excellence System Leader role is designed to coach and guide the implementation of the Performance Excellence System (PES) which is a Lean Six Sigma deployment into a WestRock facility. This role is the direct conduit between the tactical/operational and strategic initiatives in the organization. Key to success in this position is the ability to work within and across the plant at all levels creating value and buy-in as the key change facilitator for the Performance Excellence System deployment. This position will be focused on driving improvements in revenue and driving cost out of the business through more effective processes, elimination of non-value added or duplicate efforts, waste and other related defects in the process. This role supports the Dallas, TX and Greenville, TX facilities.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Align with strategic objectives for the Division/Region/Plant and Execute PES to accomplish them

  • Perform education to pillar teams and steering committee

  • Train teams to utilize lean six sigma tools and methodology

  • Serve as site PES implementation and sustainment leader

  • Provide and share foundational best-practices

  • Ensure that process changes become part of the DMS (Daily Management System)

  • Work with Regional Practitioners to ensure alignment to the system across plants

  • Coach/mentor belts and CI pillar teams to achieve savings goals

  • Execute LSS Belt projects to deliver hard cost savings

  • Coach and assist plant in their Zero Loss Thinking and Analysis

  • Provide education on the pillars as necessary

  • Provide on-site coaching to the individuals/teams as necessary

  • Perform audits and assessments for the evaluation of PES results and consistency across the plant and work with Practitioners to ensure consistency across division

  • Identify training needs/gaps prior to and during the implementation.

  • Assist in the alignment of key resources to include engineering and other resources to ensure that we are working on the right priorities

  • Develop, track and report local progress for the facility

What you need to succeed:

  • Coaching and communications skills

  • Lead by effectively Influencing, engaging and empowering others

  • 4 Year degree required, Engineering Preferred

  • Performance Excellence System Pillar training provided

  • Strong continuous improvement experience required; Lean Six Sigma Belt Training/Certification (Green/Black Belt) certification preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing and/or Continuous Improvement experience

  • Preferred similar experience in Lean Based Operating Systems
