JOB SUMMARY

To ensure that all materials and orders are loaded, unloaded, inventoried, labeled, put away accurately and in good condition at all times. While providing accurate and timely documentation of receipts and shipments using established policies and procedures.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately complete 100% of all shipping and receiving daily goals.
  • Loads, unloads, and moves freight, stock, or other materials to and from staging or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, by hand or other equipment.
  • Loads and unloads materials using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools as needed.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, cradles, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or truck.
  • Assemble materials and orders such as batteries, attachments, and other items using hand tools and other equipment.
  • Verify and document all shipments and received goods with their appropriate paperwork and labeling.
  • Inspect incoming products for damages, product description and quantity variances.
  • Pick orders and inspect all outgoing products for quality and accuracy.
  • Utilize proper packing methods on all orders to mitigate potential transit damage.
  • Maintain shipping, receiving, staging and other related areas daily: make sure all inventory is put away orderly, labeled and note proper locations and correct discrepancies, maintain records, maintain adequate stock of shipping supplies, and general cleanliness.
  • Utilizes operating system to post inventory when applicable and receive inventoried items through established PO receipt process and demonstrate proficiency in established procedures.
  • Distribute non-inventoried items to appropriate department, may require research for items not labeled.
  • Responsible for initial contact with carries, vendors delivering and picking up from the facility.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn basic product knowledge, with emphasis on weight, height and overall load capacity.
  • Become certified to operate specific types of material handling equipment.
  • Receive and document all returned goods per established procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain all shipping related equipment, machines and supplies inventory.
  • Maintain discarded products or shipping materials including used tires, cradles, batteries, cardboard and pallets.
  • Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and with other company associates as required.
  • Deliver and pickup items from suppliers, vendors and other CHL locations as needed.
  • Assist in other areas of the Equipment Distribution Department as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
  • Excellent prioritizing and organizational skills.

  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks and stressful workload peaks.

  • Demonstrate speed and accuracy in order picking / packing and shipping / receiving.
  • Demonstrate mechanical skills and ability, basic computer aptitude, and general clerical skills. Experience using Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel is helpful.
  • Previous knowledge of equipment handling operations and hazardous material procedures and guidelines is helpful.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Generally works in a warehouse area with exposure to heat, cold, and low light situations with exposure to moving equipment and tool hazards. The Associate is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The Associate must be available to work before or after normal working hours and occasionally on weekends, based on workload factors such as inventory, special projects and other similar items.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The Associate frequently is required to walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 130 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
