Burns & McDonnell Senior Process Engineer - Life Sciences (Greenville) in Greenville, South Carolina

Description

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a mid to senior level process engineer to help grow our life sciences department in its Greenville, SC office. This individual will be client-facing and work with junior staff on the execution of projects. Optimum candidates will have strong interpersonal skills and be comfortable presenting to clients and mentoring colleagues.

Work includes managing conceptual studies, detailed design, and providing construction support. Maintains and promotes a focus on Burns & McDonnell final deliverables.

  • Lead a team of process engineers and maintain control of project scope, schedule and budget

  • Able to develop effort hour estimates as well as forecast staff required to deliver the project

  • Lead in developing process scope, including PFD's, P&IDs and process design basis documents.

  • Lead P&ID reviews with the client

  • Ability to develop process and control narratives

  • Support development of process and utility equipment arrangements

  • Ensures effective communications with other engineering disciplines.

  • Ensures effective management of change.

  • Support ongoing development of process engineering staff and support office recruiting of new process engineers

  • Lead in the review of mechanical package specifications, controls system specifications, and electrical deliverables.

  • Lead in preparing and developing instrument specifications, instrument and instrument valve data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries, purchase recommendations, construction packages.

  • Lead in reviewing instrument and control systems vendor drawings and data

  • Interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers/designers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering with 7 or more years' experience in Process Engineering for the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.

  • PE Registration preferred

  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.

  • Experienced in field instruments and control valve selection, calculation and detailed specifications.

  • Experience in HAZOP / LOPA.

  • Experience working on EPC life science projects is required.

  • Knowledge of applicable design standards.

  • Ability to travel.

  • Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
