Paralegal Litigation I is a position on the litigation team within the legal department. The paralegal will provide support with litigation matters assigned by management or in-house counsel. A Litigation Paralegal may also provide assistance or guidance to other paralegals under supervision of management. The Litigation Paralegal I provides support as a record’s custodian in witnessing, in mediations, in depositions, in trials, in arbitrations, and in discovery requests. This position performs substantive and procedural legal work as authorized by law and by in-house counsel. This position investigates and performs account level reviews and provides recommendations to management and in-house counsel based upon those investigations.

What You Bring:

  • National certification by either NALA or NFPA strongly preferred but years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of certification.

  • Ability to quickly and accurately evaluate new matters and assess the applicability of relevant statutes, codes, and regulations.

  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must possess advanced organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues and opportunities and address the same with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work on a team or independently with minimal supervision.

Education:

  • 2 or 4 year college degree strongly preferred but not required.

  • 3 - 4 years’ litigation experience as a litigation paralegal either in a corporate legal department or in a law firm, or a combination of the two, required.
