System One Instrumentation & Controls Engineer in Greentree, Pennsylvania

System One is seeking a Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to develop I&C deliverables for all phases of a project to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed, and quality is acceptable. Responsibilities:

  • Develop I&C deliverables for all phases of a project, including conceptual design, preliminary design and detailed design, to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed, and quality is acceptable. Monitors productivity and technical proficiency of assigned instrumentation and controls personnel to support the project.

  • Define scope of work, design criteria, schedule, standards, and procedures for project assignments; which may include Process Control Systems, SCADA Systems, Motor Control Systems and wiring, Controllers and I/O cabinets, as well as other automated systems.

  • Develop I&C engineering and design effort man-hour estimates, control cabinet material and labor estimates, instrumentation material and labor construction cost estimates.

  • Provide technical direction for I&C projects, makes decisions and/or obtains additional technical staff assistance as the situation warrants, as well as directly interfaces with customers.

  • Ensure that discipline design work is coordinated with project staff and Engineers from other disciplines by maintaining clear and frequent communications.

  • Advise engineering and project management regarding any problem areas, staffing requirements, delays in production, scope changes, or other events which could affect project completion and/or profitability.

  • Recommend design methods, installation methods, equipment use, etc., for discipline standards.

  • Produce project drawings and design calculations.

  • Develop and/or review the design of Process Control and SCADA Systems.

  • Develop and/or review the procurement activities associated with I&C Systems, equipment, and field devices. Procurement activities include preparing technical data for inquiry packages, preparing technical bid evaluations, vendor submittal reviews, factory acceptance testing, and commissioning protocol preparation.

  • Develop and/or review typical I&C engineering and design drawings such as P&IDs, Instrument Loop Sheets, Interconnecting Instrument Wiring Diagrams, Motor Control Elementary Wiring Diagrams, Process Control System Network Architecture Diagrams, Process Control System Controller and I/O Cabinet Layout drawings and Bills of Material.

  • Develop and/or review typical I&C specifications for Process Control System hardware, software, and applications specifications including Functional Specifications, Control Strategy Narratives/Logic Diagrams, and SCADA HMI designs.

  • Perform I&C construction administration activities such as contractor submittals review, responses to requests for information (RFI), site reviews and inspections.

  • Participate and assist the customer and construction team in start-up, testing and commissioning tasks.

  • Participate in the development of I&C construction bid packages.

  • Perform inspections of I&C installations for conformance with engineering documents, equipment specifications, and safety standards.

  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOP) for I&C devices and equipment on mission critical facilities.

    Requirements:

  • 8+ years of I&C engineering and design experience specific to Industrial, Chemical Plant, Oil & Gas, and other related projects.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Thorough knowledge of I&C engineering and design practices including drawings, specifications, codes, and construction techniques.

  • Working knowledge of applicable Industry Codes and Standards (e.g. NEC, ASME, ANSI, ISA, ASHRAE, IEEE, ASTM, NFPA).

  • Experience in DCS and PLC based control systems and SCADA Systems design as well as associated control communication networks design experience.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
