GENERAL CARBIDE CORP Machinist in Greensburg, Pennsylvania

Machinist Experience with at least one (more is a plus) of the following:

  • ID, OD, Jig & Centerless Grinders, Surface, Hone, Wire EDM, RAM EDM or Rollomatic grinding.
  • CNC, Flat/Roll Lapping Machines; Gang Wheel Slicers; Hole Drilling (to 0.020?)
  • Lathe and milling machine experience.
  • Program, set-up and operate a Mazak Lathes
  • Bridgeport Mill
  • Using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines.

Key Competencies:

  • CNC, G-Code or other relevant programming experience preferred.
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Program using Mazatrol Smooth
  • Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls
  • Grind most forms required, maintaining tolerances specified on prints.
  • Using cut-off wheel, slices parts to specified tolerances.
  • Check all work using micrometers, Vernier, gauging devices, indicator, comparator, surface plate and other special measuring device maintaining tolerances specified. Accurately records all information.
  • Perform routine maintenance and keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.

Requirements:

  • 3-5+ years of machining experience preferred
  • Proven experience as machinist
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
  • Good at math with analytical abilities
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items, up to 30lbs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset
  • Pass a background check and drug test
