Job Overview

May at times operate and maintain high speed stamping presses to standard rate, check product being produced to specified Quality Inspection Plan ( Q. I. P. ) to assure conformance to print requirements and to do complex die repair, rebuild and conditioning as required to maintain the dies to a quality level that will meet these requirements on conventional high-speed progressive stamping dies. May also work in shop repairing dies and doing changeovers as required to meet customer demands. A Tool & Die Maker should be able to handle typically all die repairer situations without supervision. A Tool & Die Maker should be proficient in all shop equipment and heat-treating techniques and should also have basic skills in operating the optical profile grinder, gig grinder and E. D. M. plunge machine. The tool & die maker will at times lead and instruct other lesser skilled associates in the metal trades including die repair, press operation and machine shop. The tool & die maker should also work closely with die engineering to help drive continuous improvement within all aspects of the stamping department as related to Quality, Cost and Productivity. In addition, the tool & die maker should help monitor spare tooling for availability and spikes in usage, which may indicate problem areas.

What your background should look like:

An individual must have a minimum of two (2) year technical degree in machine shop and/or tool and die or the equivalent in prior work experience plus 5+ years of experience in die repairing, changeover, building, re-building and conditioning of complex progressive dies. This also includes being proficient in the use of all shop equipment and grinding skills of compound angles, form grinding and surface grinding to a tolerance of +/- .0001. Must be proficient in heat-treating and should have some working knowledge of the e.d.m. plunge and profile machine. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and help instruct other associates within the team in die repair techniques. Four- (4) years (8,000 hr.) state approved apprenticeship certificate is a plus. Must also demonstrate the ability to surface grind a V-Block and/or the equivalent per established requirements.

COMPENSATION

• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $51,600 – $64,500 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
