North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State Unive Assistant/Associate Professor - Extension Volunteer and Partnership Engagement Specialist in Greensboro, North Carolina

Description:

Provides leadership in the development, management, implementation, and evaluation of research based integrative statewide Extension programs that meet the needs of limited-resource and socially disadvantaged audiences. Delivers training and educational support materials for field staff and their clientele/ customers in building capacity to effectively engage and support volunteers and partner relationships consistent with the philosophy, policy and overall mission, goals, and educational objectives of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Program. Specifically, this position will include planning and designing programs and processes to support field staff in implementing successful volunteer management systems and cultivating beneficial community and statewide partnerships. This is a non-tenured track faculty ( NTTF ), twelve-month position at the rank of "Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice – Extension Volunteer and Partnership Engagement Specialist” in Cooperative Extension at North Carolina A&T.

The position’s incumbent is eligible for title promotion and academically housed in the Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics and Agrisciences Education. As NTTF faculty, this position can be released, up to 25% of time and effort once per year, to teach for-credit academic coursework.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The Cooperative Extension at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is an educational outreach organization within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T provides researched-based educational information, programming, and technical assistance to limited-resource audiences that address a diverse range of issues in four programmatic areas – Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community and Rural Development, and 4-H Youth Development. A dynamic and resourceful system is formed with its partners – North Carolina State University Extension, U.S. Department of Agriculture, state and county governments. In addition to campus operations, Cooperative Extension has professionally staffed offices in almost half of the 100 counties in North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian Nation.

Requirements:

· An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Volunteer Administration, Extension Education, Community Development, Leadership, or closely related field and professional Extension or related practice.

· Experience in designing and implementing community-based Extension or non-formal educational programs through the engagement

· Computer literacy (proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Office)

· Demonstrated ability to conduct effective program evaluation.

· Demonstrated ability to design, promote, implement, and evaluate youth and adult programs.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills. And

· Strong interpersonal skills.

· Experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation.

· In-depth knowledge of state and national trends and relevant data supporting Extension program development for.

· Demonstrated ability to interact and gain support from constituencies outside the university such as business and industry, state and federal agencies, non-profits, and private foundations.

· Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands and set priorities.

· Valid Driver’s license and personal transportation.

· Ability to travel and work after hours/weekends as needed.

Preferred:

· In addition to Ph.D., three or more years of professional experience in Cooperative Extension program development or other non-formal community-based settings.

· Three or more years of experience planning, implementing, marketing, and evaluating educational programs in community-based settings.

    This position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. N.C. A&T employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
