[Serves as Program Assistant - 4-H-Youth Development/HHS/ ANR for the Extension Service, responsible for assisting in planning/coordinating/presenting educational programs and activities.

  • High School Diploma, Associates or Bachelors Degree. Additional knowledge in computer (Microsoft - Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Publisher; Purdue Extension Online Database, Cascade, Adobe products, and Canva).
  • Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment with minimum supervision, and maintain appropriate, respectful interrelationships with co-workers.
  • Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/hostile persons.
  • Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure, and complete assignments effectively amidst frequent distractions and interruptions.
  • Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information/records according to state requirements.
  • Ability to work extended and/or evening hours, occasionally work weekend hours, and occasionally travel out of town for training/conferences/meetings.
  • Possession of a valid Indiana drivers license and demonstrated safe driving record.

[Physical Effort and Work Environment[: Program Assistant performs duties in a standard office environment, which may involve sitting for long periods, lifting boxes weighing under 25 pounds, sometimes more, bending, reaching, close vision and hearing communication. Program Assistant drives vehicle to run departmental errands. Program Assistant/Communications occasionally works extended, weekend and/or evening hours, and occasionally travels out of town for training.
