POSITION SUMMARY The Grant Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial aspects of grants and special revenue of the College. This role includes ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, preparing financial reports, and working closely with College departments to ensure accurate and timely financial management of grants and special revenue. Essential Functions Statement(s) Analyze and interpret complex award actions to ensure financial requirements per local, state, federal, or private funder are followed. Manage and oversee the post-award financial functions: o Prepare and analyze financial reports and projections to identify discrepancies and recommend solutions as needed for efficient and compliant spend-down of awards. o Audit and approve financial transactions such as purchase orders, invoices, receipts, subaward invoices to ensure accuracy of expended or encumbered funds in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. o Complete accounting processes such as budget modifications, journal and budget entries, time and effort reporting. o Advise, train, and answer questions to college stakeholders of financial processes, procedures, and regulations for award management. o Monitor and manage accounts receivable including billing, researching discrepancies, and collecting outstanding balances. o Complete financial grant reports and requests for granting authorities and external audits as needed. Assist in pre-award financial functions including analyzing, modifying, and approving the pre-award budgets and completing risk assessments on subrecipient organizations to identify any potential risks. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of three years of occupational experience involving the creation and maintenance of accurate and detailed accounting records. Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel). Preferred Qualifications Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Experience in grant accounting or grant management or similarly complex and technical accounting discipline. Experience with federal and state grant compliance and reporting requirements. Previous experience in a similar role within an educational institution or a nonprofit organization. In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200). Familiar or experience with auditing processes and internal controls. Other Requirements Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with change in accounting standards and grant regulations. Ability to interpret complex grant requirements and the ability to effectively ducate others about how this information impacts grant implementation. Ability to analyze complex financial data and create detailed reports. Strong project management skills. Must hold a valid driver\'s license and be insurable under the District\'s standard insurance policy.
