JOB REQUIREMENTS: DIRECT HIRE Are you an experienced Field Service Technician? Would you like to work for a well established mechanical componenets company? Our customer is hiring a talented, experienced, Field Service Technician to join their team in Elgin, IL As a Technician you will go on field service calls within the United States to inspect, repair, install, and start-up gear drives and other transmission parts on customer sites. You will determine the cause of failure and provide possible corrective actions. Must have the ability to read and work from blueprints, parts lists, and assembly protocols. There will be use of parts washers, freezers, ovens, cranes, fork trucks, presses, torches, hand, and power tools. You will be responsible for disassembling units, inspecting disassembled parts, the write up and reporting on failed parts, and recommendation of replacement parts. Job Responsibilities: Service and maintenance of gear drives which include bevel, helical, planetary, worm gear, mixer drive, mill drive, single and double screw extruder units, hoist and swing gear drives, variator drives, marine drives, couplings and their subassemblies Ability to analyze and resolve issues independently and efficiently Write customer facing reports, including photography Create expense reports Education and Experience: 10 years prior experience in power transmission, heavy equipment assembly, or wind gearbox applications. Equivalent of 5 years\' experience specifically in field service operations. Certification from MSHA, part 46 or 48 preferred. Crane and rigging experience necessary Relevant work experience e.g. electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, maintenance/troubleshooting in a military, industrial, or automotive industry Lathe and surface grinder experience Knowledge and experience with blueprints, metric system, work standards, ISO and quality documentation, basic gearing and bearings. Advanced mechanical skills. Experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel. Physically and mentally able to work suspended from heights and in confined spaces. Ability to climb stairs and ladders generally up to 125 meters in height or similar, ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs. in weight, and the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time. Flexible travel schedule. Weekends may be required.
