    Summary

    Under the direction of Cheese Procurement, the Cheese Grader is responsible for grading loads of product to ensure they meet the required product specifications. This position is also responsible for preparing samples to be sent to customers.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

    GRADING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Grade incoming product and internal product for production on a regular basis

  • Grade cheese at outside warehouses

  • Verify, sign off on, and file all COA’s for incoming product.

  • Complete required paperwork and keep accurate grading reports for auditing purposes

  • Inventory purchase orders into Winona designated locations for production

  • Monthly set aside purchase orders for aging programs as required

  • Monitor purchase order arrival dates and locations

  • Verify the accuracy of product delivered by pounds, type, etc.

  • Maintain procurement files (both paper and electronic)

  • Alert sales to any inventory (bulk, trim, etc.) that may need to be moved

  • Maintain inventory in outside warehouses

  • Set up paperwork for any returns of raw material and credit

  • Assign cheese

  • Other duties as assigned

    SAMPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify cheese to be used in customer samples

  • Work with R&D and production team to complete sample requests

  • Work with Production when they are running trials involving cheese.

  • Prepare completed samples or selected inventoried sample for shipment following the procedure

    Supervisor Responsibilities

    This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

    Qualifications

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.

    Education and/or Experience

    Requires two years of college and two to three years of related experience; or four years of high school and five to six years of progressively responsible related experience. 

    Obtain and maintain required education for cheese grading.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and employees of the organization.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
