Amentum GSE Mechanic - Customs and Border Protection in Great Falls, Montana

The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE).

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Conduct diagnostics and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems, inspects, and approves completed maintenance actions, solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications.

  • Use automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions, and analyzes, diagnosis, and repairs GSE using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.

  • Maintain external fuel and grounding systems.

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE, inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.

  • Service equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications.

  • Disassemble and assemble malfunctioning GSE accessories and components, remove, disassemble repairs, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble, and reinstall GSE components and accessories, stencil, and mark GSE in accordance with technical publications.

  • Store, handle, label, use and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards, and regulations.

  • Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment; and operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles.

  • Maintain vehicle records, and update paper and electronic equipment records, provide dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.

  • Responsible for good housekeeping, hazmat, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety.

  • May be required to perform other duties as required to support the overall mission.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain the clearance.

  • High school graduate or have an equivalency certificate from an accredited program, is required.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver's license with a HAZMAT endorsement.

  • Must be proficient in Office software applications to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.; especially Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • The ability to read and write and comprehend/interpret data.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

  • The diversity of working conditions may range from a standard office type environment, where there is no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individuals to severe changes of temperature, less than adequate lighting, dust, wind, rain, and the like.

  • On occasions, individuals may also be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail, thus requiring the use of adequate ear protection.

  • Be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

  • Must provide your own tools.
