Job Summary

The student worker, under the direction of the Executive Director and Senior Program Coordinators, will assist with daily set-up, breakdown, student sign-in/sign-out, moving/organizing equipment and supplies, escorting students between classes, supervising lunch and class breaks and assisting instructors in classrooms. The student worker will work closely with the instructional assistants, parents, students and instructors. Office duties may include special projects, making phone calls, updating social media, computer data entry, administrative office tasks and other projects as requested. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and social media programs is preferred.

Students with diverse backgrounds and education students are encouraged to apply.

Required Qualification(s)

  • Must be a CLC student enrolled in 3 credits for the summer or 6 credits for the fall semester.

  • Demonstrated excellence in spoken and written communication.

  • Experience working with parents and students in an educational setting.

  • Demonstrated excellence in time management.

  • Must have at least a 2.5 GPA .

  • Must be available to attend training in April or May of 2024.

  • Demonstrated dependability in being on time for scheduled work times.

  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills especially as it relates to the position (responding to requests, asking questions, communicating needs, communicating with co-workers, checking in after completing each assignment, etc.)

  • Commitment to follow department procedures.

  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality and adhere to college and FERPA guidelines.

  • Ability to understand and follow procedures consistently.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently if needed.

  • Demonstrated initiative in work and communication.

  • Demonstrated strong work ethic.

  • Must attach an availability schedule with application.

    Desired Qualification(s)

Experience in teaching or training.

Experience in working with children and parents in an educational setting.

Job experience working directly with the public (e.g. retail, customer service).

Excellent technology skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Assistance is needed at the Grayslake Campus, Southlake Campus, Lakeshore Campus, Advanced Technology Center, Braeloch Facility and University Center of Lake County.

Pay Rate $14.00

Location Grayslake

Total Hours per week 20

Work Schedule

To be determined based on other staffing and scheduled classes.

Typical work hours:

Fall and Spring

Monday-Friday from January to June 1 and August to December 20.

Daytime hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

Evening hours (4:30-9 p.m.)

Saturday hours (8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

Summer

Monday-Thursday, June to August 10.

Daytime hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
