Job Summary

College of Lake County is seeking Adjunct Faculty to teach workplace English as a Second Language ( ESL ) for Business Solutions at employer sites. The instructor will propose and deliver high-quality ESL skill assessments and training for Lake County employees and entrepreneurs.

Required Qualification(s)

  1. Experience facilitating ESL training with adults.

  2. Experience presenting to groups, teaching adults, and/or facilitating corporate training.

  3. Developed and/or implemented ESL skill assessments and/or training materials.

  4. Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities.

  5. Competency in technologies commonly used for virtual and in-person training.

  6. Able to travel around and adjacent to all parts of Lake County to facilitate ESL instruction at employer locations.

    Desired Qualification(s)

Education and/or professional certifications in ESL education, including TSOL and/or ELL .

Summary of Essential Functions

  1. Deliver ESL assessments and training at employer sites in and/or adjacent to Lake County..

  2. Develop assessments and instructional materials to each employer’s specific needs.

  3. Maintain current knowledge of subject matter.

  4. Faculty members are expected to maintain current in compliance training, including compliance under Title IX “Responsible Employee” and, if applicable, Clery Act Campus Security Authority.

  5. Select, prepare and maintain current curriculum, course outlines and printed and non-printed instructional materials.

  6. Deliver assessments and training as scheduled.

  7. Deliver content using a variety of teaching styles.

  8. Meet all trainings for the scheduled time.

  9. Encourage learners to submit evaluations, review evaluations when available and use feedback to improve course delivery.

  10. Revise and update training content as needed.

  11. Maintain a high level of professional ethics.
